Are there different levels of play?
Participation in our leagues is based on honesty. People selecting the right level for
their children's participation. Winning is not everything! Learning to play the game and improving your soccer skills is more important. Players are only going to improve if they play at the right level and they have to compete with someone else who can make them better.
Play for the fun of it
Players who want to be part of a team, learn the game of sand soccer and who are just not as aggressive as those players on the intermediate or power level. Recreational players have not played organized field soccer before or been on a select or traveling soccer team.
These players play for the thrill of the competition.
This type of play is for individuals, groups and teams that have played organized team soccer had a coach, and who have played in a soccer league. These players are familiar with how to play the game of soccer, know how the rules of the game of soccer and who want to play a better brand of soccer. A player in the competitive level of play may have received coaching on a regular basis as they have grown up. This player knows how to play team soccer and may have been a member of a select or travel team who went to soccer tournaments
Girls may play on boys' teams.
Does Thunder Beach Sand Soccer have both girls and boys leagues
Leagues are set up by age group, not by gender. Teams can be all
girls, all boys or any combination of boys and girls.
What are the youth age groups
U-8 , U-9, U-10 , U11, U-12 U-13, U-14
What are the age groups that are available to play sand soccer?
Youth: U 8, U 9, U 10, U 11, U 12, U 13, U14
We have included a birth year chart to help you apply for the appropriate age group
• U-8 born on or before 1/1/2012
• U-9 born on or before 1/1/2011
• U-10 born on or before 1/1/2010
• U-11 born on or on or before 1/1/2009
• U-12 born on or before 1/1/2008
• U 13 born on or before 1/12007
• U-14 born on or before 1/1/2006
Can a player play up an age group?
Yes. A player can choose to play up an age group but when doing that, he/ she must be able to play at that level of play.
How many teams in a league
Our goal is to have 6 to 8 teams in each league
How many players on the field at a time
U-8, U-9, U-10, U11 has 5 players and a goalie on the field at a time
U12 and up have 4 players and a goalie on the field at a time
What is the average team size?
U-8, U-9, U-10, 12 players make up a team
U-11 and up, 10 players make up a team

U 8 / U 10 3 / 10min periods
5 min. break between periods

Why are sand soccer games played for less time than normal soccer?
Sand soccer is a very quick game that entails a lot of movement from players. Playing is constantly moving and running or dribbling, passing and shooting. Therefore, in order to keep sand soccer players fresh, games are shorter and substitution is allowed on the fly.
How long is the Thunder Beach Seasons:
9 Weeks in total. First-week Orientation, hand out team shirts, short practice
2nd-week short practice, scrimmage game, 3rd-week league schedule
Can a person enter as an individual, with a friend, a small group or a team?
Yes, you can enter as an individual / free agent, with a friend, a small group from
school, church, the neighborhood and once registration is concluded, we will put together teams. You can also enter a full team. However, everyone must meet the
age requirements, skill requirement and be able to compete at the level chosen.
Yes, younger players can play up an age group. Older players may not play down an
age group. Thunder Beach reserves the right to put together teams in a higher division should we need too in order to have a league.

You Want to play but don’t have a full team? At Thunder Beach, you can register as a free agent /Individual entry, and we will try and place you on a team.
Two-Player entry: How do I get on the same team
as a friend of mine.
For those people who have another person they want to play on the same team with, you can sign up together and Thunder Beach will place you on the same team.
Caution: Usually one of the two people signing up, one is a better athlete than the other. Whatever level of play you select to participate at, both players are expected to be able to play at that level. Once you are playing at that level there is no whining or sniveling.
If you are a good player and you have chosen to play down a level and you are outplaying everyone on the pitch (field) and embarrassing the other team. Thunder Beach reserves the right to move you up and put you on a team at a higher level. You will be moved up if there is an opening and an established team needs an additional player. If there is no opening at the higher level you will have to sit out and not play until the following season at which time you would sign up for the next level up. If there is not an opening at the next level you will have to sit out the remaining games of the season without a refund.
Please remember that since this is our first season and we are not acquainted with a player's capabilities or the capabilities of people on the other teams, there is no sniveling or whining. Work with us! Just let us know if you have a problem or concern and we will try to do what we can and make it right the best way we can for all parties.
Small Group :
How do we keep a group of friends together? For those people who have a group from work or a small group of friends or family that want to play together, Thunder Beach will take your small group and once registration is done, we will try and combine your group with those free agents/individuals and two-player sign-ups to make up a team.
When entering a small group you must make a choice of which level to play at:
When entering a small group the talent level may vary dramatically. Whatever level of play you sign up for, everyone will be expected to play at that level. If you are a good player and you have chosen to play down a level and you are outplaying everyone on the pitch (field) , and embarrassing the other team. If there are two or more of you that are obviously over talented for the division that you signed up for, when Thunder Beach attempts to move you up a level, there is a better then average chance that the people moved up would be placed on different teams.
Thunder Beach also reserves the right to remove you from that level of play and have you sit out the remaining games of the season without a refund.
Vice versa if you have signed up for a higher level and you are unable to keep up at that level. Thunder Beach reserves the right to try and move you down a level. If we are unable to accommodate that move, you will have to sit out the remaining games and wait until the next season without a refund.

A 5 vs 5 full team is 10 to 12 players
A 6 vs 6 full team is 12 to 14 players
Thunder Beach reserves the right to add players to a team entry when that team entry does not have the number of registered and paid team members for a Thunder Beach full team.
Selecting a level of play
Individuals, groups or teams applying will be asked to select a skill level based on their ( individual entry) their groups, ( two or more players wanting to play on the same team ) their teams ( if entering an entire team ) skill level. Thunder “Beach reserves the right to combine or move teams from one skill level to another skill level.
In order. to have a fair playing field it is important to note that an individual, group or team entering must register for their appropriate skill level in their particular age division; the “Honor System”.
Players may request to play up a division but players may not play down a division.
Regardless of what level of play a parent or guardian selects, parents, guardians, and players may not complain. No sniveling! No arguing with coaches referees! or Thunder Beach nightly program managers.
Girls may play on boys teams and women may play on men's teams
Registration Acceptance: Limited number of teams.
Teams are accepted on a first-in, first accepted basis until we reach the registration deadline or a division is full, whichever comes first.
You will not be able to register multiple teams in a division with the exact same team name. Ie Fire. You can have Fire Storm red, Firestorm blue, etc.
Only individuals, groups or teams that have registered and paid in full are considered as in a Thunder Beach sand soccer league. Individuals, groups or teams not paid in full by the close of registration are not considered for the Thunder Beach sand soccer program.
Individuals, groups or teams not paid in full by the close of registration are placed in a wait list status without guarantee of acceptance. No waitlist individual, group or team will be considered for acceptance without full payment of all fees.
If there is not a spot in the division you selected, Thunder Beach will contact you. If there is an opportunity in a different skill level Thunder Beach will try and let you know that to see if you feel comfortable in playing in that type of league.
If Thunder Beach is not able to accept your individual, group, or team entry because that division has been filled, or there are not enough teams for a league in that division, your individual, group or team entry will be refunded in full.
Waitlist individuals, groups or teams will be notified if Thunder Beach is unable to accept you within 7 days after the registration deadline has been passed.

on our website. Players, Coaches, team captains should check
the Thunder Beach Sand Soccer website an hour and a half
before your scheduled game and weather information will be
scrolling across the top of the website letting you know about
whether or not games will be played.
Weather Concerns: Please remember:
You are playing on sand so while other outdoor activities may be
canceled unless there is lightning involved around the time of your game; you are probably still playing.

- Late Registrations. only accepted if a league or level of play needs a team to fill a league.
- Once a league or division is full we will place individuals, groups, or teams on a waiting list to play. If we can not place you on a team or in a league we will refund your fee in total.
The regular registration period begins on February 1st and runs until “February
Can you sign up after the regular registration period ends?
Yes! You can sign up after the regular registration period ends. However, there is a late registration fee that will be added to the normal registration fee. The total cost to sign up late would be $155 per player.
If the registration is for an additional season and not that person’s first season of play the cost to play would be a total of $114 per player.

Thunder Beach Refund policy.
Our general policy is refunds are not available. Often our rosters have limited space and last minute cancellations hinder our ability to properly plan and organize the season and our leagues and assignments for officials, program managers, etc. However, there are a few exceptions.
- If you provide us with written notice of your need for a refund up to seven (7) days, one week notice prior to the registration deadline for that season, we will be able to provide you a refund. Depending upon the price of the league and if you registered as an individual or team there may be a processing fee.
- A seasons program credit may be offered in lieu of a refund
- In case of injury prior to or during the season, we will evaluate each situation on a case by case basis.
- If a league has to be canceled for one reason or another and you are unable to play in a different league
Thunder Beach will provide you with a full refund.
- All season refund credits must be used within two of the following seasons
- If you are unable to participate after completing the registration process, we are able to provide you a credit for any future Thunder Beach sand soccer program.
People who wish to be Coaches (Yout teams ) Captains (Adult Teams) need to submit to a background check once the team account has been created with the Kansas Youth Soccer Association at a cost of $20. This cost is not included in an individual's cost to participate in a Thunder Beach sand soccer program.
Note: Coaches whose team players are already registered with the Kansas Youth Soccer Association Program do not have to pay the $8.25 insurance fee since you are already covered by your participation in the Kansas Youth Soccer Association Program. Therefore your registration fee to play in a Thunder Beach sand soccer program is $57 plus the one time a year fee of $10 for your Thunder Beach teams sand soccer t-shirt.
- Players MAY NOT wear Shinguards!
Authorized footwear includes bare feet, cotton socks taped to ankles, elastic ankle and/or foot wraps, and commercially manufactured sand socks.
Other commercial beach socks with soft soles are authorized.
The referees shall require removal of any footwear which is deemed unsafe for competition. (The critical safety issue is the stiffness of the soles which may harm opponent legs and feet.)
Uniforms shall consist of a Thunder Beach team T-shirts with a pair of shorts or jeans (long pants).
Team players are required to purchase one (1) team t-shirt per year at a cost of $10 per shirt. Team t-shirts are the players to keep.
When the team coach (Youth) or the team captain ( adults ) registers, they will select a team t-shirt color for their team shirt from the colors offered by Thunder Beach. Teams registering early will get their choice of color first. Teams registering later will have to choose a shirt color from the remaining team t-shirt colors.
When each player registers they will simply put down their t-shirt size and that will be the size of the team t-shirt that players will receive prior to their first game.
Teams may not wear anything other then Thunder Beach authorized league t-shirts for games. If a player does not wear a team t-shirt to a game, the parent or guardian will have to leave identification to get a pullover pinne so the player may participate in the game.
Players may only use a pullover pinne twice during the season after which that same player will become ineligible to participate in any further games until such time as that player gets a Thunder Beach sand soccer program team-colored shirt issued for that year.
The t-Shirt color is NOT guaranteed.
When assigning colors to teams we will do our best to assign your teams its’ preference. Often times, many teams in the same league will select the same color (it happens more than you think), so register your team early. Color preference is given based on when teams sign up for the league, the earlier the better. First come first served.
T-Shirt Ordering Deadline.
We have a registration deadline each season, that deadline is also the same deadline to order your shirt. If you register AFTER the deadline then you will not receive a shirt at the beginning of the season. We cannot change our shirt order once it has been submitted so please make sure all of your teammates are signed up by the deadline so we can include them in the shirt order.
Players who do not wear their Thunder Beach t-shirt will have to wear a Thunder Beach piney. A parent must leave a form of identification with the Volleyball Coordinator to receive the participation pinnie. The ID will be returned to the parent when the piney is turned in after the Game.
Each Player on an official Team roster will receive a League-issued Shirt at the start of the Season. The Shirt must be worn and visible during each and every game of the Season. Players who forget their League Shirt will cause their Team a 0.5 Point deduction (each) from that week's Sportsmanship Rating. Players who forget their League Shirt or wear an illegally altered Shirt (see below) to the game will be made to wear a pinnie in order to participate in the game.
Coaches or Parents (Youth), Captains (Adult teams), must leave a form of identification with the Game Coordinator to receive the participation pinnie. The ID will be returned to the Coach,Parent or Captain when the pinnie is turned in after the Game.
If a Player's Shirt no longer fits into the guidelines above, the Player will be charged $10 and issued a replacement Shirt.
What size is a sand soccer pitch (field)?
Sand soccer pitch varies for the different ages of sand soccer players
Soccer fields vary in size. Under 8, Under 10, the soccer pitch is 73 feet by 73 feet.
All Other Thunder Beach Age groups will play on a field that is 135 feet by 73 feet.
